Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator

Coach FlemingCoach Fleming

Coach Fleming is entering third year as the Lopes head coach, this season will mark Coach Fleming’s 26th year in football (9 as a player and 17th as a coach). A native of Southern California Coach Fleming played for El Camino High School in Woodland Hills. In 1988, he played defensive line at Moorpark College for one of the top ranked defenses in the state. From Moorpark he accepted a scholarship to West Georgia College. After ending his playing days due to injury he returned home to finish his Bachelors degree at California State Northridge. While finishing college Coach Fleming was offered his first coaching job by one of his former high school coaches Mark Lovett at St. Genevieve High School. From there he went on to coach at Chaminade College Preparatory and his Alma matter El Camino.

In 1994 while coaching at Montclair Prep his defensive line led the way for one of the Southern Sections top ranked defenses (allowing just over 100 yards per game), an 11-1 record and a CIF Championship. Later that year he was offered a coaching position with the University of Pacific. After starting their season with one of the toughest non-league schedules in the country (Arizona, Oregon State, Fresno State, Nebraska-National Champions and Oregon), UOP decided to cancel their program at the end of the year. Coach Fleming returned home and accepted a job as the Defensive Coordinator at Alemany High School where he worked under Head Coach Pat Degnan. At the end of the year Coach Fleming was lured back to Montclair Prep for 2 more seasons before getting the call from the high desert. In 1999, he was hired by Coach Degnan as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Quartz Hill.

Coach Fleming has had the pleasure of coaching so many young men with great athletic talent. Some of the players he has coached have gone on to play for many of the top football programs in the country such as USC, UCLA, Colorado State, Utah State, Colorado, Northwestern, Harvard, Hawaii, and Wisconsin. Coach Fleming has also had the pleasure of working with current NFL players Seattle Seahawks linebacker Kevin Bentley and Indianapolis Colts Defensive Back Jerome Dennis. Coach Fleming holds a Masters degree in Educational Administration and is currently teaching computers in the Information Systems Academy at AV. He and his 6 year old partner in crime Walker currently live in Lancaster.

Coach DeanCoach Dean

Coach Dean is in his 15th year of coaching. After playing football on various levels, Coach Dean completed his studies with a B.B.A. Degree in business, and a Finance M.B.A. Coach Dean has worked in private industry for several years and today maintains his employment as a fee business consultant and educator. Coaching and teaching secondary, school student athletes remains Coach Dean's passion.

 

 

 

Quarterbacks

Coach Joe Coach Joe

Originally from Mobile, Alabama, coach Joe grew up in the San Fernando Valley where he played football for the “PowerHouse” San Fernando High. There he was an All-City/All-State Quarterback, and was also named “Player of the Year” by the Daily News. Coach Joe was also an All-City Basketball player and All-City/All-State high jumper in Track and Field, becoming the only athlete to be All-City/All-State in these Varsity sports in the same year in its school history.

Coach Joe was also selected to play in the prestigious North-South Shrine All-Star game played at the Rose Bowl. Coach Joe went on to play at Pasadena City College and LA Valley City College, where he was selected All-State, 2 nd Team All-American and Western State Conference “Player of the Year”. Coach Joe earned a Football Scholarship to Missouri Western State. Playing one year and was named Missouri Conference “Quarterback of the Year”.
